The Riptech diving club has been in existence in Kamloops BC for over 15 years. Riptech enjoys a strong recreational and learn to dive program as well as a solid competitive group of young divers who enjoy success at the provincial level and who have qualified for the junior national level.

Riptech Diving is seeking a Head Coach to start when a suitable candidate is acquired.

Responsibilities of the Head Coach include:

  • Coaching
  • Mentoring and supervising assistant coaches
  • Diver recruitment and long-term development
  • Program planning and coordination for all recreational and competitive programs
  • Strong communication skills that create an environment that motivates athletes and other coaches to achieve their potential
  • Able to work with a team of volunteers and some outside agencies to sustain a healthy and vibrant club and foster its` growth

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications:

  • NCCP coaching certification level 2 or equivalent
  • Two years as a diving coach
  • Ability to mediate and resolve conflict
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills
  • Experience in gymnastics coaching an asset

The Head Coach reports to and works alongside a committed and supportive Board of Directors to implement the clubs mission and strategic plan.

This is an ideal part time position for a student or person interested in higher education as the diving facility is located at the Canada Games pool on the grounds of The Thompson Rivers University (www.tru.ca) in Kamloops, British Columbia (www.tourismkamloops.com). Also, for the outdoor enthusiast who is looking for a secondary source of income there is no better place to enjoy skiing, hiking, hunting, biking & boating. The facility includes: 1 and 3 meter spring boards and a 5 meter platform as well as a gymnastic and trampoline facilities, and indoor track and field venue.
